Reb Zalman Legacy Project

 Mission Statement


1. To preserve, develop, and disseminate the teachings of Zalman Schachter-Shalomi (ZS-S):

  • Cataloging and archiving the works of ZS-S;
  • Developing new publications based on the works of ZS-S;
  • Directing the licensing and distribution of ZS-S’s published works;
  • Protecting the copyrights to the works of ZS-S;
  • Increasing awareness of ZS-S’s teachings by making them available in digital formats on the Reb Zalman Legacy Project Web-site, the Reb Zalman Legacy Archive On-Line, and in other appropriate venues.

2. To further Zalman Schachter-Shalomi's pioneering work in deep ecumenism, contemplative Judaism, spiritual eldering, and psychology of religion:

  • Promoting the study of deep ecumenism, contemplative Judaism, spiritual eldering, and psychology of religion, and Z.S-S's teachings on these subjects;
  • Implementing and/or supporting diverse deep ecumenical, contemplative Judaism, spiritual eldering, and psychology of religion education programs;
  • Supporting and/or sponsoring events designed to increase public awareness of  deep ecumenism, contemplative Judaism, spiritual eldering, psychology of religion, and Z.S-S's teachings on these subjects;
  • Donating ZS-S's archived works, "The Reb Zalman Legacy Archive" to Naropa University;
  • Utilizing the Reb Zalman Legacy Project Web-site and the Reb Zalman  Legacy Archive On-Line as a forum for relevant dialogue on deep ecumenism,  contemplative Judaism, spiritual eldering, psychology of religion, and Z.S-S's teachings on these subjects.

3. To help individuals enrich their lives by participating:

  • Globally in giving Web-seekers access to the Reb Zalman Legacy Project Web-site and the Reb Zalman Legacy Archive  On-Line;
  • Locally, by utilizing the Reb Zalman Legacy Project’s educational materials in spiritual education programs;
  • Periodically in various related activities that the Reb Zalman Legacy Project undertakes.
